Camp Director John Krikorian

John Krikorian is the current head men’s basketball coach for the Christopher Newport University in NCAA Division III and previously spent six years as an assistant at the Division I level. He has led CNU to the program’s only three NCAA Division III Final Four appearances and the 2023 NCAA National Championship.

Krikorian is one of the most successful coaches in NCAA men’s basketball history at any level. Through 2024–25, his 77.0% winning percentage is 2nd best in the NCAA among active NCAA Division III coaches with at least 10 years at the helm and third best in NCAA Division III history. On February 22, 2025, he became the 10th fastest coach in NCAA basketball history, at any level, to reach the 400-career win milestone. 

Krikorian has worked as a head coach and commissioner at the prestigious Jay Bilas Skills Camp for the last decade. He is a sought-after leadership speaker, having earned his Master’s degree and then serving for three years as an adjunct professor in the prestigious Center for Sport Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Co-Director John Searby

John Searby was a co-founder of the Jay Bilas Skills Camp and served as Camp Director since its inception. In this role, John managed ongoing planning and administration of all camp locations as well as the programming and day-to-day operations of the camp. He plans to remain involved with the Old School Skills Camp, serving in an advisory role to the directors, coaches, and staff.

John is a 1998 graduate of Milligan College where he led the Buffaloes to 3 conference titles and an NAIA National Tournament appearance. Following graduation, Searby embarked on a 10-year collegiate coaching career with stops at Gardner-Webb, Tennessee Tech, Lincoln Christian University, and Auburn. Searby currently works as the CEO and Executive Director at the Daniel Stowe Conservancy in Charlotte, NC.
Coaches Development Program
John Shulman
John Shulman is the head men’s basketball coach at the University of Central Arkansas after serving in the same capacity at the the University of Alabama Huntsville and the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. The 2025-26 season marks his 39th on the sidelines spanning high school, NCAA Division 2, and NCAA Division 1, including multiple trips to the NCAA Tournament. A respected mentor to aspiring coaches, John has directed the Coaches Development Program at the Jay Bilas Basketball Camp for over a decade and will continue in this role at the Old School Skills Camp.
Director of Scouting
Riley Highfill
Riley Highfill is a basketball coach, evaluator, and content creator based in Richmond, Virginia, with experience coaching at the high school, college, and high-level AAU levels, including on the 3SSB Gold circuit with Team Loaded. He currently works with both Team Loaded Gold and Team Loaded Black 804, helping develop and evaluate talent competing on national platforms such as Phenom Hoops and 3SSB.

Riley has played a key role in helping over 100 student-athletes receive college offers and recruiting interest through his coaching, exposure opportunities, and ability to connect players with the right programs. In addition to coaching, he serves as one of the lead scouts for Prep Hoops Virginia, where he evaluates talent across the state and helps bring exposure to prospects looking to play at the next level.
 
Known for his ability to identify talent, build relationships within the recruiting landscape, and provide meaningful feedback, Riley brings a well-rounded and trusted perspective to player evaluation and development.
